Of Ranunculus and Fishing lures. 10/03/2011
A simply beautiful day today. The garden is lovely after recent spring rains. My vegetables are growing well and the flower beds are in brilliant display. I had a very productive writing morning. Then I took an exercise break and came back to my editing following a late lunch. I have been developing the opening page of my novel. Fleshing out the characters. Progress is slow but steady and the new work is worth keeping in the novel in future edits. I am reminded of a quote I read recently by Colleen McCullough about how she writes about six or seven drafts of her novel and the last two are for fleshing out the characters and checking the research. Time for a walk and another coffee then some more editing before tea. Steak and salad is on the menue. Nice and easy so I can focus on my writing for as long as possible. Reg is happy. A parcel of 28 coloured and varied fishing lures that I bought for him had the effect that a brilliant garden display of flowers has on me.
