How The Fierce Handle Fear - Secrets to Succeeding in Challenging Times

Author from London, England, now living in the USA, is featured in book with Donald Trump, Jack Canfield and Frank McKinney.

Huntington Beach, California – March 17, 2010 – Twenty three authors have come together to help entrepreneurs move past fear and embrace individual responsibility for change. How The Fierce Handle Fear - Secrets to Succeeding in Challenging Times is a compilation of 'secrets' from thought leaders who have succeeded even in the face of fear. The book is designed to provide help and hope for entrepreneurs and small business owners especially in this turbulent time.

How The Fierce Handle Fear - Secrets to Succeeding in Challenging Times details personal stories, proven techniques and tips on how each contributor handled fear and pushed through it. The book demonstrates that even the most successful business people, including Donald Trump and Jack Canfield experience fear just like everyone else.

Cherry-Ann Carew, featured author in How The Fierce Handle Fear, shares her experiences with fear and success in her contribution entitled ‘The Price of Fear.’ Carew explains, “At some point in time, most of us will get caught up in financial conundrum. This could lead to overwhelm that in turn leads to fear. That fear either numbs the mind, causing listlessness and you either become a victim, or it drives you to claw your way out.

“The trick, in my opinion on how to handle this set back, is to take stock of your affairs and focus on how to rectify them instead of focusing on the obstacles that causes fear.”

Sophfronia Scott, editor of How The Fierce Handle Fear, adds, “The average person sees Donald Trump or Jack Canfield behaving fearlessly, and they think the person is just that way—they don’t see the work or the deep thinking that has brought them to where they are today, that’s why it’s so important that we’ve collaborated to share these real experiences to help others move past fear, and realize their own potential.”

The book will be available at bookstores, online book distributors including Amazon.com and www.writetasticsolutions.com in April. A portion of all sales will benefit Frank McKinney’s Caring House Project Foundation. CHPF provides housing, food, water, medical support and opportunity for the desperately poor and homeless from around the world, particularly in the United States, Haiti, The Caribbean, South America, Indonesia and Africa.

Cherry-Ann Carew is a gifted independent writer, writing coach and copyeditor with over fifteen years of experience in professional writing for various magazines, newspaper publications and online content.

She worked as a sports journalist for one of Britain’s popular newspapers, The Voice, and as editor for BlaqSport, a national sports journal, now defunct, in the United Kingdom.

Cherry-Ann is also the author of a novel that will be published by INDI Publishers later this year. She has further written a series of E-books under the umbrella title: In Layman Terms - A Guide for Aspiring Writers and is currently collaborating on a non-fiction book, titled ‘Cook Up.’

10 Questions You Must Answer Before You Die!

"I think the best aspect of your book is that it encourages us to pause and reflect. So much of our life is so frenetically busy that we often overlook what is really important or indeed who is really important." The Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP  Member for Wentworth

SYDNEY: "We have a tendency to live in our heads - our brain-boxes - which we are constantly prone to audit and review... how do you arrive at the greatest balance between your head and your heart?"

While self reflection can be unconscious, it can be a struggle to talk about. New book 10 Questions You Must Answer Before You Die uncovers the curiosity but fear of questioning and reflecting on who we are and what's important.

As a doctor of medicine, a marriage celebrant, a professional speaker and now a new author, Dr. Danny Beran ties his journal with ten ultimate questions.

Danny's parents fled Austria in 1938 as a result of Jewish discrimination. Since then, Danny, a very proud first generation Australian, has been brought up to seize opportunities and now hopes to inspire others.

As he writes, "I have sought to make a wonderful map for myself throughout my life. My parents' destiny was blocked by twentieth century history; and this lesson has always been in my consciousness. "

Our reasoning behind any response to the question of ‘who we are' is likely to be either a function of the task's importance, or the time requirement of the enquirer."

This new book was launched by The Hon. Malcolm Turnbull on March 28th at the Hughenden Hotel in Woollahra, New South Wales.

Last month Parks Victoria’s Chief Ranger for the Grampians, Graham Parkes, received accreditation as a Level 3 Incident Controller.

Graham was one of nine DSE and Parks Victoria staff presented with their accreditation, further increasing Victoria’s level of preparedness.

Graham also holds accreditation as a Level 3 Planning Officer and Level 3 Operations Officer.

The addition of his Level 3 accreditation as an Incident Controller makes Graham one of only a few people in the State to hold Level 3 accreditation for all three key areas of fire management.

“Across DSE and Parks Victoria we have staff with a great deal of experience and it’s important we continue to enhance our skills. Level 3 development, assessment and accreditation provides me with the skills to manage some of our states biggest and most difficult fires,” Graham said.

Graham has been employed with Parks Victoria for 35 years and has been the Ranger in Charge at the Grampians National Park for over 15 years. He has just been promoted to the position of Chief Ranger for the Grampians District.

During this time Graham has performed roles at many fire incidents including recent significant fires in the Grampians in 2006, the Great Divide Fires in Gippsland in 2006/07 and last February's Remlaw and Kilmore East fires.

Incident Controllers work out of the Incident Control Centre and require extensive experience in dealing with complex fires and managing, coordinating and communicating with a variety of different people across different agencies. Staff from DSE, Parks Victoria or CFA can fulfill these roles during an incident. A Level 3 Incident Controller is responsible for managing a large or complex fire where resources from a range of locations are involved. These resources can be multi-agency and the incident will normally exceed 24 hours.

The other newly accredited DSE and Parks Victoria staff are based at a range of regional locations including Glen Waverley, Traralgon, Hattah Kulkyne, Benalla, Broadford, Mildura and Box Hill.

Hope

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

Emily Dickinson

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER -
I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.

I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would have talked less and listened more.

I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or! the sofa faded.

I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.

I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.

I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner!" There would have been more "I love you's." More "I'm sorry's."

But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...look at it and really see it .. live it and never give it back. Stop sweating the small stuff.

Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what.

Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us.

Let's think about what God HAS blessed us with. And what we are doing each day to promote ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally.

I hope you all have a blessed day.

Dr, Nora Volkow, is a passionate advocate for addicts of all kinds, she is determined to find a cure. Her work with drug addiction may offer help for overeaters.

Dr. Nora Volkow is determined to change people’s minds and make them realize, it is not only the weak that become addicted

I have an interest in drug rehabilitation
. I have worked professionally with drug addiction from the emergency ward, through into the psychiatric wards and in several of the best private drug rehabilitation centres in Victoria.  I have combined my certificate in health sciences with my arts training to become an arts therapist, working in this field of health care. I have always felt compassion for those with addictions, I have had my own battle with overeating in the past and not so, past, I have no reason to feel superior to people fighting worse demons in their lives.

Dr Volkow is the director of the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA, part of the National Institutes of Health) and is one of the leading addiction researchers, Volkow says brain science is proving that we all have the potential to become addicted to something: drugs, alcohol, tobacco, sex, gambling, even food. Overeating and substance abuse are "two sides of the same coin,"

The brain chemistry of over-eaters and drug addicts was very similar. Drug addicts, alcoholics and smokers all have the same type of brain chemistry, which prevents them from quitting their habits, except with great difficulty.  When people eat, way beyond their need and store the excess fat, there's a debate as to whether you want to call that a disorder of the brain

Addictive drugs hijack the normal food reward system that humans need to survive. For example, the dopamine signaling system in the brain is activated, by food cues, such as the smell of turkey roasting in the oven. This system drives us to eat and feel satisfied after eating. Brain-imaging studies show this same system is at the core of drug addiction.

With understanding of what triggers addictions we will more easily be able to manage them.  This research certainly backs up what statistics tell us, that it is stress management, changing our thinking and lifestyle rather than going on a diet, that is the only long-term pathway out of obesity for a former overeater like myself.
