_Whoever said money can't buy happiness simply didn't know where to go shopping. -- Bo Derek Yesterday Reg went to his favourite place, his dreamland is the local fishing tackle shop. Squidgies and live bait was bought by my mate. Live worms in my studio!!!!...this fishing madness has to stop. Now shopping for writing books makes much more sense. I sure need help with this poetry or with it...I must dispense. Sigh.... Contentment at last. :-) My mate and me. I write about the past and - with luck - we have fresh caught fish for tea. I always say shopping is cheaper than a psychiatrist. -- Tammy Faye Bakker I like my money right where I can see it: hanging in my closet. -- Carrie from Sex and the City I don't shop because I need something, I just shop for shopping's sake. -- Cat Deeley I love to go shopping. I love to freak out salespeople. They ask me if they can help me, and I say, "Have you got anything I'd like?" Then they ask me what size I need, and I say, "Extra medium. -- Stephen Wright If I don't stop shopping, I'll end up a bag lady; a Fendi bag lady, but a bag lady..... -- Carrie from Sex and the City If men liked shopping, they'd call it research. -- Cynthia Nelms If you change lines, the one you just left will start to move faster than the one you are now in. -- O'Brian's Law In department stores, so much kitchen equipment is bought indiscriminately by people who just come in for men's underwear. -- Julia Child On the one hand, shopping is dependable: You can do it alone, if you lose your heart to something that is wrong for you, you can return it; it's instant gratification and yet something you buy may well last for years. -- Judith Krantz Shopping is a woman thing. It's a contact sport like football. Women enjoy the scrimmage, the noisy crowds, the danger of being trampled to death, and the ecstasy of the purchase. -- Erma Bombeck Shopping is better than sex. If you're not satisfied after shopping you can make an exchange for something you really like. -- Adrienne Gusoff The quickest way to know a woman is to go shopping with her. -- Marcelene Cox Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like. -- Will Rogers Win or lose, we go shopping after the election. -- Imelda Marcos We always hold hands. If I let go, she shops. -- Henny Youngman When [we]were first married, [Wade] begged me to be practical...thank God I lived by my credo: 'Veni, vidi, visa - I came, I saw, I charged it. -- Swoosie Kurtz When women are depressed, they eat or go shopping. Men invade another country. It's a whole different way of thinking. -- Elayne Boosler Research into retail therapy 1 Comment Retail Therapy 09/11/2011
Had a good day out catch up shopping. My BodyMedia FIT tells me I did 1 hour moderate exercise and 17 mins intense exercise, walked 6600 steps and burnt 2600 calories simply out shopping with Reg. I feel so much better reading those results as I was thinking how unfit I was, getting out of breath a couple of times trying to walk fast and catch all the stores we wanted - we did Shopping in the city of Shepparton is fabulous even if you don’t have access to dropdowndeals coupons. Reg and I had a great shop-up day yesterday and we asked for and received discounts everywhere we went. Gray nomads need to be careful with our spending money. Having just purchased my new iMac computer I am very wary of spending blow outs, however I was also sporting a very scruffy hairstyle after 5 months of travelling without having visited a hairdresser and I needed a few new outfits due to putting on a few kilo while in tour. Reg and I had been cracking jokes about the holes in his underwear and how I could not get his hoody off his back to wash it since he had discovered the pleasure of owning one. It was time for a men’s clothing shop up. Sharing our retail therapy day, yesterday. What a spending and physical workout we have been on this week. lol. I think I am retail therapied out until Christmas :-) Shepparton is a shopper’s paradise.www.gray-nomad.com Gray with an a for active, ageing well, fitness, exercise, motivated, nomad, seniors, travelling Australia in caravan, travelling with a dog and downsizing. Kathy Shell Weasel it and SAVE. 08/26/2011
I had never heard the expression before, but apparently "Weaseling it away." is a great way to save. I have always given my small coins to my husband who keeps the in a change bag that we use if I am selling my small art crafts and prints at a market stall. Weasel technique is suggested as a budgeting technique. You could have a separate savings account used to deposit savings. The weasel technique uses the same principle, but involves taking small amounts from elsewhere in your budget and weaselling it away somewhere secret. A hidden piggy bank around the house is an ideal place to start – every time you have some change or a stray $10 note, weasel it away. Before long you will have an emergency kitty to deal with unexpected expenses or in the event of an unavoidable splurge, which will help keep all your other goals on track. Above are three of the art postcards works you will find in my Kathy Shell Artist website. It contains original art also. EBay Auction Templates 08/06/2011
I am going to open an EBay store as soon as I am back in one place with an internet I can rely on. I will be using my 100% positive feedback ID and I am just playing around with the right store name for it. I have always believed in using excellent templates for listings and I used to love making these myself, however my background magic program only work on the old windows operating systems. I have used the EBay templates and don't really like any of them and find them too commonplace in the EBay listings to stand out well from the crowd. I think it is important to show a professional look, it helps people trust the seller if your auction looks beautifully presented. Two years ago I trialed two companies that charged around $10. a month to use their auction templates, they were OK, not exactly what I wanted. Last year I paid $50. to one company for the unlimited use of their auction templates for 12 months...they were good, but still not exactly what I wanted. This week I have invested over 10 hours pouring over every EBay listing of auction templates and ordered around 40 assorted highly professional auction templates. I like variety because I colour and style harmonies the template to the listing. This takes time. I allow 20 minutes to make up every listing I insert on EBay so one listing per day is around three and a half hours work, and that is without finding photographing the item, replying to customers and posting items. So time management will be important once I get into the listing and selling. At least I will own these templates and not have on going monthly or yearly fees and of course I could have managed with half a dozen templates quite easily...this is FUN however. Designing a good looking listing is like any other creative work, something to enjoy doing. When things cease to be enjoyable...I stop doing them. Which is why I do not sell on EBay 12 months of the year. As soon as I weary of it, I take a break...a long break. Then because I do it when I want to do it, while I am loving doing it, I believe this is why I maintain patience with customers and hold my 100% positive over 1000 happy customers, feedback. Skin Care 07/29/2011
I subscribed to a heart health newsletter and I got an email giving 10 tips to care for my skin. Naturally I unsubscribed but thought I would give my skin care tips. I believe in good health care checks, regular dental care is important. If big lump sum expenses seem unfordable then check out dental insurance quotes. I wash my face in water.....that is it. I do not use makeup, I allow my skin to breath. I do use a pH balanced shampoo and conditioner. If my skin doesn't feel dry I don't moisturize it. I eat a healthy diet and moisturize my skin from within by including healthy oils and nutrients in my eating plan. I don't allow myself to be hoodwinked by the biggest con of the lot, the beauty industry.
I cook eggs with 2 teaspoons of olive oil per person though you can use less or no oil. Just don't pour it out, I measure and ensure we have a healthy good oil intake each day as this keeps your gall bladder and many other organs healthy, even protects your bones if you are losing weight. You need some healthy oils each day so you can to absorb your fat soluble vitamins. As that empty tube of toothpaste has lasted a week with two people fighting with it twice a day, I realize what a money saving there is in squeezing until the tube is 100% depleted. Saving Money on Fuel. 04/21/2011
I am just back from a 500 kilometer round trip visiting family so today's money savaging thoughts run to being sure to fill the car with petrol, gas or in our case diesel fuel well before the holidays like Easter. We filled up last Wednesday and already the price at the pumps are 14 cents dearer than earlier in the week. While we are fueling the car for our travels we also get spare fuel for our yamaha generator which is always with us. It has helped us out numerous times when we camp where there is no power and I want to run the computer. We often lend it to trusted neighbours during power failures, if they do not have solar power to run their lights. Another thing that will save a lot of money on a long tour is patient steady driving. It not only saves fuel but tyre rubber and break wear and tear. This year, with fuel prices more expensive, we are still taking our holidays north to escape the cold climate but we will only travel north as far as we need go for beautiful daytime temperatures and rely on warm doonas and jackets to be warm at night. This saving heating costs and halving the fuel bill by choosing this mid way between hot and cold climate location. I also choose to drive at around 80 K per hour in 100 K speed limit zones as long as I am not holding up other traffic. This not only allows me to safely enjoy the scenery more but out fuel economy is superb. | Art & Art Print Gifts can be viewed & purchased from
